Privacy Policy.

TrailSense, Inc. ("TrailSense," "we," "us," or "our") operates the TrailSense mobile application (the "App") and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our App and services.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account and inquiry information

If you create an account, contact us, request a demonstration, or join a waitlist, we may receive information you submit, such as your name, email address, organization, property or deployment details, and the content of your message. The information requested depends on the feature you use.

Cellular RF detection

TrailSense sensors passively detect radio-frequency activity and measure signal strength. This cellular RF detection does not decode communications, intercept calls or messages, or identify subscribers. A detection alert indicates wireless activity; it is not proof of an individual's identity or presence.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi detection

Depending on the deployment, TrailSense software may scan Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals to help detect and locate nearby devices. Information processed may include broadcast device identifiers, device names, signal-strength measurements, timestamps, and related technical metadata. Some identifiers may be personal data under applicable privacy laws. We do not intentionally collect the content of personal communications through this scanning functionality.

Location, app, and notification information

Depending on product configuration and permissions, the App may process device or sensor location, map requests, account settings, detection events, and push-notification tokens. Optional usage analytics or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) may be present in some configurations; their use in each current deployment has not been confirmed. You can manage device location and notification permissions in your device settings.

Website and technical information

When you visit our website, Cloudflare may process technical request information as part of hosting and delivering the site. The exact information and retention depend on the applicable service configuration. If you email us, Google Workspace processes the message and related delivery information.

2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
  • Provide security services: Process detection signals, generate alerts, classify threat levels, and display property security status.
  • Authenticate your account: Support account access and respond to account requests.
  • Send notifications: Deliver alerts where push notifications are enabled.
  • Display maps: Render property maps, detection heatmaps, and device locations.
  • Improve the App: Operate, maintain, and improve our services where the relevant feature is enabled.
3. CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE AND SECURITY

TrailSense uses Golioth as an IoT cloud infrastructure provider. Depending on the deployment configuration, Golioth may process or store device messages, operational telemetry, event information, and technical logs. Data may also be processed or stored on devices, TrailSense systems, or other configured services. Not all processing is local, and cloud storage may occur.

Pilot and demonstration deployments are intended to minimize unnecessary collection and retention. Data handling and retention can vary with the deployment configuration and customer agreement. Where supported, we may arrange deletion of evaluation information within our control after an evaluation, subject to legal obligations and service-provider retention limitations.

We use administrative and technical practices intended to protect information and limit access to people who need it to operate the service. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We do not make a claim here of a particular certification or independent security assessment.

4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Providers involved depend on the website, product, and deployment configuration. Services that may process information include:

  • Cloudflare: hosts and delivers the website and may process technical request data.
  • Golioth: provides IoT cloud infrastructure and may process or store device messages, telemetry, events, and technical logs, depending on configuration.
  • Google Workspace: processes email communications sent to our company address.
  • Mapbox and Firebase Cloud Messaging: were disclosed in prior product materials for maps and push notifications. Their use in currently shipped deployments needs technical confirmation. See Mapbox's privacy notice and Google's privacy information.
  • EmailJS and Formspree: the website code submits demo requests through EmailJS and contact/quote forms to Formspree endpoints. The Formspree IDs in this repository are placeholders, and the active production routing and recipients must be confirmed.
  • Analytics and other backends: analytics SDKs were not found in this website project, and their use elsewhere must be confirmed. Product materials also name Nightingale Analytics as an alternative device backend; confirm whether any deployment uses it.

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers to operate the website or product, or as required by law or a customer deployment agreement.

5. DATA REGARDING DETECTED DEVICES

Detection alerts indicate observed wireless activity and are not intended to establish the identity of an individual. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi identifiers or other technical metadata may be personal data in some circumstances; they should not be assumed to be anonymous.

  • Cellular RF sensing measures activity and signal strength; it does not decode communications, intercept messages, or identify subscribers.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning does not intentionally collect the content of personal communications.

You are responsible for using TrailSense in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding electronic detection and surveillance on your property.

6. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
  • Access and update: You can view and update your profile information within the App.
  • Delete your account: You can delete your account from the App settings, which submits a request for handling under the applicable service and deployment configuration.
  • Manage notifications: You can enable or disable push notifications in the App settings or through your device's system settings.
  • Location permissions: You can revoke location access at any time through your device's system settings.
  • Known devices: You can whitelist known devices to exclude them from alerts.
  • Block devices: You can block specific device fingerprints to hide them from your alert feed.
7. RETENTION AND EVALUATION DEPLOYMENTS

We do not state a single retention period for all information. Retention depends on the service and deployment configuration, customer agreement, and applicable legal requirements. For pilot or demonstration deployments, we aim to minimize unnecessary collection and retention. Where supported, we may arrange deletion of pilot-related information within our control after the evaluation. Provider retention limits, backups, and legal obligations may affect deletion timing and scope; we cannot guarantee immediate deletion of every copy.

8. OPTIONAL AI FEATURES

Certain TrailSense product configurations may support an optional locally hosted large language model (LLM). This is not included in every deployment. When configured for fully local inference, the model processes prompts on the device rather than sending them to a cloud AI provider. Other product features and connected services may still transmit or process information as described in this Policy.

9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

TrailSense is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
